Tal-Kapuccini in Floriana is closely tied to the arrival of the Capuchin friars in Malta. The first friary associated with the Capuchins was established outside Valletta’s walls, in the Floriana area, with the church and convent beginning construction in 1588/89. The site and early plan are linked to Grand Master Hugh Loubens de Verdalle and Girolamo Cassar.
