About the Memorial
Erected with gratitude by the Xewkija Local Council, this marble monument stands in memory of the residents of Xewkija who died as a result of enemy action and military conflict during the two World Wars. Notably, the inscription for WWII casualties includes traditional Maltese family nicknames (laqam), preserving vital local genealogical heritage alongside the victims' age and date of death.
