The Other Hospitaller Towers

1. Captain's Tower (Naxxar, Malta) – 1548

Captain's Tower is a tower in Naxxar, Malta. It was built sometime after 1548 by the Order of Saint John. Today, the tower is in good condition.

2. Garzes Tower (Mgarr, Gozo) – 1605

Garzes Tower (Maltese: Torri Garzes, Italian: Torre Garzes or Torre della Garza), also known as Saint Martin's Tower (Maltese: Torri ta' San Martin), was a watchtower built in Mġarr, Gozo by the Order of Saint John in 1605. It was named after Martin Garzez, the Grand Master who financed its construction, even though it was eventually built after his death during the Magistry of Alof de Wignacourt. The tower was demolished in the 19th century

3. Mġarr ix-Xini Tower (Għajnsielem, Gozo) – 1661

Mġarr ix-Xini Tower is the largest of the coastal watchtowers that the Knights of Malta erected on the island of Gozo. It watches over the entrance to the bay of Mġarr ix-Xini, limits of Għajnsielem, which lies on Gozo's south-west coast.

4. Isopu Tower (Nadur, Gozo) – 1667

Sopu Tower (Maltese: Torri ta' Sopu), also known as Isopu Tower, San Blas Tower or Torre Nuova, is a small watchtower situated on the cliff between San Blas and Daħlet Qorrot in Nadur, Gozo, Malta.

Isopu Tower was the last watchtower to be built in Malta, apart from the tour-reduits of the 18th century. It is one of four surviving towers on Gozo, with the others being Xlendi Tower, Dwejra Tower and Mġarr ix-Xini Tower. The earlier Garzes and Marsalforn towers were destroyed in the 18th and 19th centuries.

5. Tal-Wejter Tower (Birkirkara, Malta) – 1710

Tal-Wejter Tower (Maltese: Torri tal-Wejter - It-Torri Wejter) is a tower in Birkirkara, Malta, which was built in the early 18th century by the Order of Saint John. It is also known locally as it-Torri tal-Misħun (English: Boiling Water Tower), a reference to its machicolations which are known as galleriji tal-misħun in Maltese.[ The tower was partially demolished in the 1960s, but it was later rebuilt. Today, it is in a rather dilapidated state.[

6. Torre dello Standardo (Mdina, Malta) – 1725-1726

The Torre dello Standardo (English: Tower of the Standard, Maltese: It-Torri tal-Istandard) is a tower in Mdina, Malta, forming part of the city's fortifications. It was built by the Order of St. John between 1725 and 1726, on the site of an earlier tower, and its purpose was to communicate signals between Mdina and the rest of Malta. Today, the tower is in good condition, and it serves as a tourist information centre and for occasional cultural events.
