Frà Henri Auguste de Béon de Luxembourg was a distinguished member of the French nobility and a knight of the Order of Saint John, whose legacy is preserved within the sacred interior of St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta. Belonging to the prominent House of Béon-Luxembourg, he exemplified the aristocratic tradition of service that characterised many members of the Order.
During his lifetime, he fulfilled both religious and military duties expected of a Hospitaller knight, contributing to the defence of Christendom and the governance of the Order. His burial in the main nave of the cathedral reflects his status and importance, as this central space is reserved for notable figures whose richly decorated tombstones form part of the cathedral’s remarkable marble pavement.
Today, his memorial forms part of the wider artistic and historical tapestry of St John’s Co-Cathedral, offering visitors insight into the noble heritage and enduring legacy of the Knights of Malta.
